Climate Action

Proud to be part of the Let’s Go Zero Campaign

We are proud to be part of the Let’s Go Zero campaign, working alongside schools across the UK to become a zero carbon school by 2030. Through this initiative, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact, promoting sustainability and empowering our pupils to take positive action for the future of our planet.

Our Climate Action So Far

We are actively taking steps to make our school more sustainable. Here are some of the ways we are making a difference:

  • Energy Efficient Lighting
All lighting across the school has been upgraded to energy-saving LED systems.

  • Solar Panels
We generate renewable energy on site, helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

  • EV Charging Points
Electric vehicle chargers are available to support greener travel choices.

  • Recycling Facilities
New and improved recycling stations help reduce waste across the school.

  • Welly Share
Pupils can borrow and share wellies, supporting outdoor learning while reducing unnecessary purchases.

  • Second-Hand Uniform
Our pre-loved uniform initiative promotes a more sustainable uniform culture and reduces waste.

  • Opal Bingo
We collect scrap and loose parts to enrich playtimes, encouraging reuse and creativity.

  • PTA Costume Swap
Families can swap costumes for school events, helping to reduce single-use purchases.

We are committed to continuing our journey towards a more sustainable future, while inspiring our pupils to care for the environment and take meaningful action.

Schools have a unique role in leading change within their communities, especially in response to young people’s passion for climate action. We believe we can help drive positive change beyond our school gates, inspiring families and the wider community to take meaningful steps towards a greener future. As part of this important decade for climate action, we are working with a growing network of schools to share ideas, develop solutions and support each other on the journey to zero carbon.

Working closely with our Eco Committee and Climate Action Advisors, we have started to measure our carbon footprint and identify key areas where we can make the biggest difference. Our Climate Action Plan is currently being finalised, setting out clear steps to reduce our environmental impact and move us closer to our goal of becoming a zero carbon school.

Being part of the Let’s Go Zero campaign reflects our commitment to taking meaningful action locally while contributing to a global effort. It highlights our determination, as a school community, to protect the environment and create a more sustainable future for generations to come.
