Blue Coat Pre-School Newsletter November 2011
The clocks have gone back and it feels like winter is on its way, but there is plenty going on to keep us occupied. In the Pre-School we have enjoyed our Bonfire topic, with some lovely fireworks being created in each group and it was rounded off with a visit from Firefighter Mark, who showed us how to dress safely if we go to a firework display. Thank you for coming in to see us and for the stickers Mark.
The Pre-School will be raising money for Children in Need w/c 14th November. Keep an eye out for activities.
Management Trustee AGM News
Thank you very much to all the parents who attended the AGM. Your support is much appreciated. This year our Chair Caroline Winter, Finance Officer Sharon Ames and Secretary Kristy Kitchen stepped down from their roles, along with two other Committee Members Fred Eldridge and Fanny Marshall. We thank them for all their hard work and support.
Welcome to our new Chair, Lucy Chandler, Finance Officer Fran Hardy and Secretary Sandie Nickols, and the new trustees Kirsty Hannan, Paula Howden and Paul Marshall. Caroline and Sharon will remain on the committee to support the new Chair and Finance Officer.
The Management Trustee Committee are responsible for the general control, management and administration of the Pre-School & Busy Bees and they are all volunteers.
PATA
As parents of children at the Pre-School you are all members of PATA. Please take time to read their magazine (it is pinned up inside the Buttons room) or have a look at their website (http://www.pataglos.org.uk) which has information on courses and other events which may be of interest. They are in the process of building a toddler information section which can be accessed with the username: PATAToddler, Password: group. This will be developed over the next two years so keep checking back to see how it is going.
Meningitis
We have available a number of leaflets about meningitis and the symptoms to look out for in the information racks in each room. Please feel free to take one. There is also an app which iphone users can down load free of charge.
Admission to School
Children who are due to start school in September 2012 should receive their paperwork from Gloucestershire County Council by mid-November. If you have not received anything by then please contact the “Admissions and Transfer Team” at Shire Hall in Gloucester. Please remember that there is no automatic transfer from the Pre-School to Blue Coat School, you must contact the school office to register your interest.
Access to the Car Park
Please remember that cars are not allowed into the school car park unless they are collecting a sick child. Recently there have been cases of people stopping at the end of the drive and blocking access. If you are dropping off or collecting then please stop further along Symn Lane so that emergency vehicles could get in if necessary.
Gloucestershire Resource Centre
The Scrapstore as most people know it (a place that collects waste, such as cardboard tubes, material, offcuts etc from companies and recycles it) is now offering Family Membership. To find out more see www.grcltd.org
Yellow Moon
Coming soon! The Yellow Moon catalogue is full of art and craft products which might come in useful as Christmas gifts. The Parent Fundraising Committee will be making them available to parents shortly. Any orders that are made which quote our reference number will earn commission for the Pre-School.
The “Jungle”
Just a reminder that the “jungle”, though popular with the children, can get very muddy at this time of year which adds to the usual hazards of roots and prickly bushes. Please ask your children to take care if they are walking through there.
WOW
WOW vouchers are available online so that you can let us know of any achievements your child makes outside Pre-School. This might be an award for a sport/hobby or mastering a task such as putting their socks and shoes on!
