May 2019 Newsletter

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself – my name is Vicky Starling and I have the pleasure in taking over from Caroline in the role as Head of Unit; for both Pre-School and Busy Bees. What a half term it has been!  Thank you to everyone for all your best wishes and support.

As a Unit we have an open door policy, so if you need to come and talk to me, or any of the team, please feel free.

We have a lot of exciting activities planned for the last term before the summer holidays for both the Pre-Schoolers and the children in Busy Bees.

In their final term with us before they head off to school the Toggles have a very busy time coming up.

In Toggles the children have been looking at the miniature world of mini beasts!  We have been using magnifying glasses to get a really good look at them.  Next term we turn our focus to holidays, the beach and the sea!

The Buttons children have been looking at traditional nursery rhymes – from Humpty Dumpty to Old Macdonald.  As with the Toggles, we will spend next term talking about holidays, the seaside and different modes of transport.

Toggles Forest School – we will have 6 Forest School sessions next term.  They will be on a Thursday.  Please refer to Forest School letter.

If your child is going to be attending Bluecoat Primary School in September 2019, you should have received a letter containing dates of the stay and play and lunchtime sessions they are

offering.  Please let Jo know if you will be collecting your child for these sessions.

New Reception Parents Evening

June 11th - we will be attending the parent’s meeting for new reception children attending Blue Coat School.  Please come and get a registration form for Busy Bees if you would like your child to attend our wrap around care, sessions fill up very quickly.

Buttons & Toggles Group Photos

June 13th - group photographs for both Buttons and Toggles before the sessions start at 9am. Children who do not normally attend on a Thursday please come along to join the photo.

Toggles  - On Friday 12th July we will have your child’s transition report, a downloaded copy of their Tapestry journal and their special books ready for you to come and collect from 12pm.  You can have a chat with their Key Person before you take your child to visit their new classroom.

Our older Buttons children will have the opportunity to spend some time in the Toggles room over the next term in readiness for their move in September.

Buttons parents could you please fill in the All about Me form on your child’s tapestry account.

Buttons – September 2019 sessions

Request for sessions forms will be sent out shortly for September 2019. If you think you are eligible for the 30 hours funding please register asap via the website

Pre-School Trip -

Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park

Thursday 11th July.

We will be offering a subsidised coach for this trip so please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this. Price TBC – once we know how many are coming we can work out a discount.  It will be no more than £7.00 for over 2s and adults and £4 for under 2s plus a contribution for the coach (again, once we know how many we have coming we can look at the discount!). A separate letter will be sent out regarding the trip.

Busy Bees

We are glad to be able to spend a lot more time outside finally!  We are so lucky to have access to the school grounds and we use them regularly.

We were so proud of our budding Busy Bees artists!  Some of their work was on show during the Wotton Arts Trail at the beginning of May in the Tesco window – someone even wanted to buy one of the pictures!

During the last week we are taking the children’s taste buds on a journey around the world and bringing in lots of different foods for them to try!

We are looking for some regular help with our garden!  Do you, or anyone you know have the time and knowledge to keep our outside area looking tidy?

Invoices – Busy Bees invoices are sent out at the beginning of every month via email. Please pay your invoices by the required payment date. Busy Bees reserve the right to stop places for unpaid sessions.

Busy Bees September 2019

Renewals for your current Busy Bees sessions will be sent out shortly. Please return these by the required date to ensure the continuation of your sessions for September. We can not guarantee your place will be available if you do not return the renewal form. Thank you for your co-operation.

Please do not drive onto the school site unless you are collecting a sick child.

Dogs should not be brought into school.

Mobile phones - The whole unit is a “no mobiles” area. So please for the time that you drop off/ pick up your child keep your phones away.

Busy Bees will start at 2.30 on the last day of term (Friday 19th July), with Toggles continuing in the other room until 3pm.
