Letter from the Bishop's Visitor

DioEach year, Church of England schools are visited by an appointed Bishop's Visitor. Their remit is to offer a pastoral role to the headteacher whilst identifying and celebrating the school's recent achievements in developing its Christian character and effectiveness.

Last week, Mrs Beverley Butler visited the school and met Mrs Blaken and me to discuss how Blue Coat is moving forward in terms of its Spiritual Development (1 of 4 vision areas set by the school), as well as the exciting new developments in the subject of Religious Education. We followed discussions by visiting RE lessons in Key Stages 1 and 2 where children were both preparing for their school trip to a cathedral and mosque, and also creating help cards for new parents that explained various aspects of the school's Christian identity.
