Went to Mow a Meadow...

2015-04-27 02.10.48 pmThere aren't enough verses of the song to reflect the number of people who 'went to mow a meadow' on Saturday At Blue Coat! In fact, there wasn't even any mowing taking place; instead, families and staff gathered just to enjoy the school's outdoors and what it has to offer.

Mrs Murray and Mr Brooks organised a whole range of activities for us, including tree charm making, owl model-making, seed bomb construction, den-building, willow broom making etc. In return, we asked that those in attendance help us with distributing the wild flower seeds needed to bring some meadow spots to our school grounds.

The meadows are just one part of a broader project that the school is embarking on to create a play haven for our pupils. The PTA are planning to help us in raising funds to excavate and build a giant sandpit for our children, using the upcoming May Fayre as a point of focus. More recently, the school has enjoyed the introduction of a Mud Kitchen area on site along with the the introduction of scrap materials to promote creative and imaginative play.

A big thank you to all who organised and supported the event on Saturday - the second of its kind this year. Now its time to sit back and wait for life to take root and grow... just as our play is!
