The Fire Within - Book Review
The Fire Within is an amazing book about a college student called David. He has a week until he starts at Scrubbley College, but he still hasn’t found anywhere to stay. David then sees an advertisement in a shop window that says:
Lodgings available - £40 per
Nice room in a pleasant family
Meals and Laundry included
Suit clean, tidy, quiet
Please write to Mrs Elizabeth Pennykettle,
42 Wayward Crescent,
P.S Must like children and
dragons…
He applies, and comes round to look at his room. When he arrives at this new house, there are peculiar clay dragons everywhere and a mysterious noise is coming from Mrs Pennykettle’s pottery room, known as the Dragon’s Den…
I liked this fire-filled book because the author describes all the characters, feelings and settings really well which helped to create a fantastic image of what’s going on in the story, and made me feel how the characters would if they were real.
All in all, I would recommend this book, which is written by Chris d’Lacey, for 9-13yr olds, if you like books about dragons.
