Slug Club!

This afternoon we watched two clips from the classis 1963 film 'Jason and the Argonauts'. As Jason undertakes his quest to recover the golden fleece he has to do battle with the deadly hydra and then an army of skeletons - both of which are created using stop motion animation. Despite telling the children that the animation was cutting edge film at the time, they couldn't help but laugh when the mythical creatures first appeared on screen!

However, once we started to mould our own creatures (slugs!) they began to appreciate the time, skill and dedication required to produce a stop motion animation film. I wonder if anyone can do a bit of research and share a fact about stop motion animation films - that would be brilliant!

Here are a few snaps from stage 1 in creating our own short films...
