Jubilee Dress Up!

The Queen was born Princess Elizabeth in 1926, the elder daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. On 6 February 1952 Princess Elizabeth acceded to the throne as Queen Elizabeth II and was crowned the following year on 2 June 1953 in Westminster Abbey. The Queen's reign has spanned six decades of enormous social change and development, so... we're celebrating by dressing up!

On Friday 1st June the whole school is going to be dressing up, with each year group modelling a different decade from the Queen's reign - it would be brilliant if the Year 5 children could go for a 1960s look whilst the Year 6 children came in the style of something 1950s! This is an opportunity to be as creative and inventive as you wish - think anything from famous people to iconic items!

With the excitement already building across the school, why not share a fact about or a costume idea inspired by the 1950/60s decades?

Did you know that the first football match that the Queen attended was the 1953 FA Cup Final? And apparently, although it's hard to find out for sure, she supports Arsenal!
