Human Body Fascinating Facts

This term, we have been looking at the human body. So far, we have discovered the different names for our bones and our teeth. Do you have any fascinating facts to share about the human skeleton, bones, muscles, heart or brain?

For example: There are 206 bones in an adult human body!

you have about 316 bones when your a child and they stick togther when you grow older!

I've got one:

The acid in your stomach which helps you break down and then digest your food is so strong that it could burn your skin if it touched it! In fact, your stomach is lined by a mucus (you might know this as 'snot'!) which stops the acid from melting through your stomach.

Your blood travels through a rubbery pipe-line with many branches, both big and small. Strung together end to end, your blood vessels could circle the globe two-and-a-half times! The tubes that carry blood away from your heart are called arteries. The tubes that more gently drain back to the heart are veins.

This is an interesting topic for me so I'm going to have to share another!

The bone which joins your rib cage at the front of your chest is named the sternum. This bone is so strong that on numerous occasions it has stopped bullets shot at people's chests![Children don't try this at home! :lol: ]

On your leg there are two seperate bones the thin is tibia and fat bone is fibula :eek: :o

The elbow is often called the funny bone, this is because the bone by it is the humerus :roll:
