What A Busy Few Weeks!

Hi everyone,

I really hope you have had a great weekend and have made the most of this lovely sunshine!

We had a fantastic time at the Black Country Museum. The children had a great time attending Victorian school, doing the laundry, watching a chainmaker at work and gazing at jars of poisonous sweets in the sweet shop! I will make photographs available for you to have a look at as soon as possible. A big thank you to Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Wharin and Mr Nickols for joining us for the day. On Friday the children wrote a recount of our trip and it was lovely for them to reflect on their day and share their favourite moments with each other.

We have been also been learning about the Victorian heroine Grace Darling, who saved 9 people from a shipwreck. The children painted the stormy scene and acted out her story. They then wrote a detailed recount of her rescue, including lots of information and detail.

In maths we have been focusing on division, which will continue this week. We will also begin to look at this in the context of fractions of shapes and numbers.

Hopefully our beautiful daffodils made their way home safely to you! The children have really enjoyed looking out for the signs of Spring and watching their plants grow over the past weeks!

I have also sent the children home with a note  which details the different handwriting joins we have been learning in class. Perhaps you might find it useful to have a look at with your child, when writing at home.

Finally, on Friday morning we will be walking to St Mary's to attend our Easter service and will need some parent helpers to join. If you are able to help us walk down to the church, please let myself or Mrs. Dove know. We would really appreciate your help. Many thanks!
