Scientists at Work!

Wow! What a great start to the week we had! Mr Young kindly came in and showed KS1 how a Van de Graaff generator works! The children were so enthused and excited by all the things he showed them, including some very hair raising experiments! This coming week we welcome Mr Preston, who will be talking to all KS1 children about electricity and helping them gain greater understanding of this exciting, but challenging topic.

This week, in English, we enter our final week of stories with predictable and patterned language. We will be using the story 'Peace at Last' to experiment with repeated language, onomatopoeia and dialogue.

In maths we will be looking closely at shapes; describing their properties, sorting and classifying them. I hope you all received a 'maths at home' booklet (sent home on Thursday). Hopefully they will help to shine a light on how we teach the children to calculate with numbers, as well as giving you some handy ideas of how to practise maths at home in a fun and easy way! Please let me know if you have any further queries or questions to do with this.

Finally, a big THANK YOU for all the fantastic home learning that has already made its way in this term. Our home learning wall is filling up quickly with parachutes, charts, maths posters and more! Keep it up Class Hannu!
