We have begun our topic of ‘electricity and forces’ the children have already had some exciting lessons! We have been very lucky to have both Mr Preston and Mr Young in involving the children in practical experiments and games. The children loved watching Libby’s hair go up on end using the van der graaf generator! Thank you so much parents for all your support not only for coming in and helping but also for the fantastic costumes on launch day!

This week in English we have been looking at stories with repeated patterns (Handas Hen, Brown Bear and Peace are just a few!)  The children have been experimenting with the repeated language by following the same sequences but adding their own ideas. I have loved reading about Mr Bear and the terrible things that have been disturbing his sleep!

In maths we have been looking at number facts, patterns and shapes. This week we have been focusing on shape, children have learnt about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and how they can describe these shapes using the correct vocabulary.

This week we have introduced toilet monitors. Toilet monitors will be Year 2 children and changed each day.  Children will only be picked if they volunteer; it is a great chance to show they are responsible for taking care of the school and become great role-models for the younger children.

Just a quick reminder it is Big Breakfast tomorrow at 8am, I look forward to seeing some of you there!
