Quick Update For The Coming Week...

Hello everyone,

Last Friday saw the first story session with the year 3/4 teachers. Miss Loxley took all of year 2 for a story after their games lesson. I know they had a great time and Miss Loxley was very impressed with how sensible and well-behaved the children were. We will continue this throughout the coming weeks, to give the children chance to meet the teachers (Mr Clements, Mrs. Morgan & Miss Loxley) and to get them used to spending time at the other end of the school.

In English this week we are planning and writing our own fantasy stories based on 'The Tunnel' by Anthony Browne. The tunnel will take a character to a fantasy setting, where they will encounter a problem of some sort. In our endings, the problem will need to be resolved and the character will somehow manage to get back home again! As you can see, we will be thinking carefully about including a clear beginning, middle and end, whilst remembering to include our descriptive techniques we have been practising over the last few weeks.

In maths we will be using our knowledge of place value to partition numbers and get to grips with the meaning of digit within a number. We will then be using this knowledge to add numbers together, either using partitioning to break numbers down into manageable chunks, or using the column addition method.
