Hooray... Let's Go On Holiday!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter and are feeling refreshed and ready for the summer term.

We had a lovely time at St Mary's Church for 'Experience Easter'. Thank you so much to those parents who were able to help us with our journey there and back.

This term promises to be another busy one! We will be enjoying Forest School sessions again this term, starting on Wednesday 17th April. Helpers are still needed so please come and see me if you would like to help out at a session.

We also will be starting our new topic 'Hooray... Let's Go On Holiday!' A new home learning grid will be sent home early this week, with new activities which are linked to our topic. This week we will be starting to look at our own locality; identifying features of our environment and describing them. We will also be using collage to recreate images from holiday destinations.

In English we are beginning with traditional tales. This week we are concentrating on different characters found in these stories and will be writing character descriptions of them. We will be using interesting language and punctuation choices to develop our writing.

In maths we are beginning with shape. We will be visualising, describing, sorting and making different shapes. We will be investigating angles and lines of symmetry in shapes and in the environment around us.

Finally, thinking ahead to our class assembly later in the month, I would like to use a few photographs of some children at their favourite holiday destinations. If you have got a great holiday snap that you would be happy to tell the school about, please bring it in or email it via the school website.

Looking forward to hearing all about your Easter holidays!
