This is Actually OUR Party!

I Hope you have enjoyed looking at our Diwali celebration photos.

In English this week we are beginning to look at stories with familiar settings. To start this off we will be looking at stories including the Charlie and Lola story ‘This is Actually my Party’.

An interactive online version of this story, and others, can be found on this website:

Perhaps you might start to have a chat with your child about the characters from the story and how the story progresses as problems start to arise.

In Maths we will be looking at place value; making sure we really understand the value of each digit in a number. Some children will be using their knowledge of place value to round numbers to the nearest 10s/100s. The next step will be to use rounded numbers to estimate the answers to problems.

Optional Task – Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking closely at more celebratory traditions, including some from South Africa. To tie in with this, perhaps your child might like to find out any interesting fact about the country. Don’t forget – we already have some children who are very knowledgeable about this country (as they were in the class last year) so I challenge you to find the most interesting and surprising facts!

Don’t forget – Inset day this Friday.
