What a week!

Hello everybody!

Firstly, I would like to thank those of you who were able to come and have a look around on Monday. It was lovely to see so many of you there. If you have thought of any questions in the mean time, please remember that my door is always open.

In maths this week our focus has been subtraction. Our bronze, silver and gold targets have ensured that we have all been a little ‘stumped’ at some point this week! We will be continuing subtraction next week, so please keep encouraging the vocabulary at home.

In English we have written some poetry of our own. We have written poems about sounds at night, and on Friday we wrote a poem about autumn leaves. We all managed to use interesting vocabulary and some of us managed to use adverbs and similes! Next week we will be looking at traditional tales. Perhaps you might enjoy sharing some of your favourites with your child, so that they have ideas to share with everyone.

In our IPC topic ‘day and night’ we have produced some beautiful pictures with the title ‘My House at Night’. Mrs Davies did a wonderful demonstration of how to use light and dark in pictures prior to our own attempts, and it was so lovely to see the children thinking carefully about what she had said. Next week we will be looking more closely at why we experience day and night, and how different places experience different amounts of sunlight.

In P.E the children have been thinking about using their bodies to create shapes, when balancing. The children have been practising a star, a straight and a pike.

Well done South Africa! You have worked very hard this week – keep it up!

Enjoy the weekend and I’ll see you on Tuesday,

Miss Fisher
