Propeller powered!

On Tuesday afternoon we looked at how modern day boats are powered. Mrs Costello showed us how propellers work and showed us some American Everglade airboats with the propeller moving air rather than water to make them travel along.

Following her simple instructions we cut our balsa wood in two using a saw and sanded the front into a point to make our catamaran streamlined. After that we made a raft to sit on top with a tray for our circuit and a block for our propeller to sit on.

On Wednesday our boats were dry and we were able to make our circuits and attach them to our boats. We were able to test them along the manmade Blue Coat river. We have had such great fun and can't wait to race our boats against Class Spain on Friday!
