Class Italy's Furry Visitor!

What an exciting week we've had! A small furry visitor popped up in our classroom on Tuesday morning...his name is Topo - he arrived by falling down a drainpipe and landed in our classroom. He was hiding in a cardboard box and had written us a letter asking for help. He didn't know where he was, so we have been telling him all about where we live. He comes from Italy (Topo is Italian for 'mouse') and we will be learning all about Italian life with Topo's help. We've all become rather obsessed with him as you will see from the photo below (Topo's the white one) We think he'll need a good rest this weekend!

More excitement...we're now all having our lunch at school! Hot dinners are proving to be a hit and our fabulous Year 6 helpers have supported and encouraged the children.

Our first session of Forest School was great...we had a super time bug hunting, nest building and den making.

Next week is very special. We will all be staying in school all day, and we begin learning phonics through our Letters and Sounds programme. We can't wait to learn to read and write!

As (Acting) Headteacher, I should know about 'Topo' first, shouldn't I? I'll have to check our Admissions Policy and then meet him in person, of course. Looking forward to it!

Topo has proved an inspiration already in our house - my child is really enthused about him and how he arrived. A great idea. :-)

I wonder if Topo and Arana might meet one day? I'm sure they will have lots to tell each other!

Your'e so lucky! We never got a little mascot to help us with our learning and I must say this is a brilliant idea. =-)
