Newsletter - May 2014

We hope you all had a good break at Easter and are looking forward to the Summer term as much as we are.  Warmer days should mean that we can take more of our activities outside, which the children seem to enjoy so much.

Cars in School

Please could we remind you that cars should not be brought onto the school site, unless you are collecting a sick child. We would appreciate it if you could pass this message on to anyone who is likely to be collecting the children on your behalf (e.g. grandparents or childminders).

Playing and Learning Evening

Thank you to those parents who attended our information evening.  We received some very positive feedback and will look to doing more events in the future. In the past we have held information events on the Early Years Foundation Stage and Healthy Eating. If there is a topic that you would like us to cover then please talk to a member of staff. If you took activity sticks away with you, have tried them out and made comments, don’t forget that they can be returned for inclusion in your child’s Special Book.

Topics

This term so far we have been talking about farm animals and pond life, with mini beasts coming soon.  The children in the Toggles group have been able to visit a nearby field which is home to ducks, chickens and a horse. Thank you to the parent and three grannies who gave up their time to come with us and help.

Summertime

As usual at this time of year we need to mention that although we have a few spare hats, should we have hot and sunny days, children should bring in a (named) sun hat. Please apply sun cream before your child comes into Pre-School. Children are welcome to bring their own (named) water bottle or we always have water available for them to help themselves.

Forest School

A new six week programme of Forest School will be starting on Friday 9th May, please remember that long trousers and long sleeves are best for this. If your child comes to Pre-School in their wellies, please send in sandals/trainers for them to change into.

Pre-School Sessions for Autumn Term

‘Request for Sessions’ forms will be sent out shortly for those children attending Buttons & Toggles in September 2014.

Gate

Please ensure that you shut the gate behind you whenever entering or leaving the Pre-School playground. This is a safety measure for all children attending the setting. We are aware that the hook on the gate can be tricky, but please do fasten it or the bungee cord.

Spare clothes

Please try to send in a bag with a change of clothes for your child as we have a limited number of garments available and it is not always possible to find clothes that fit your child or that they are happy to wear.

WOW News

For WOW news that happens while you are out and about, remember that you can email photos of your child’s achievements to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

This address is checked regularly, but not daily, so please only use it for WOW news. WOW vouchers can also be printed from the website if you prefer a paper copy.

Nut Free Zone

A quick reminder that we are a nut free setting, in line with the rest of the school. This is due to the number of children and adults who have nut allergies. Please remember that some chocolate spreads contain nuts, as do many cereal bar style biscuits.

Sainsbury Vouchers

We are collecting Sainsburys Active Kids vouchers. There is a collection box in the Toggles room or you could pop them in the silver ‘fees’ box in the Buttons room. Thanks.

Childcare Vouchers

A note for new parents, we do accept childcare vouchers for payment of Pre-School fees. We are registered with many voucher companies including Kiddivouchers, Edenred, Computershare, Sodexo and more. Please contact Jo Bell for more information.
