Runners Chase Blue Coat's Cross Country Legacy Once More

cartoon 2005.111Last year, Blue Coat pupils put in a monumental effort over the course of the organised district Cross Country races, scooping winning places in all categories - a feat not achieved for many years, apparently. Mrs Arnold cheered on the teams from the sidelines once again on the opening race of this year's series and our pupils continued to pull out all of the stops, she reports...

"Well done to all of those children who took part in the Cross Country Race at KLB last Saturday.  I have just received the results and you all made an impressive start to the season, putting Blue Coat in second place behind Wycliffe!

As usual the wind was blowing and it was a cold, frosty start to the first race of the year.  This did not deter our runners and they all made it to the finish line in one piece!

There were some excellent performances all round, especially from Caitlin who came first in the Junior Girls’ race and Rebecca who made it into the Top 20.  The Junior Boys formed a very close group, with three of the four finishing in 21st, 22nd and 23rd position.

Lena and Zoe both looked as though they had a battle on their hands trying to shake off two opponents, in the Senior Girls’ race, but they persevered to the end coming 1st and 2nd

Finally, the Senior Boys did well with 4 boys – Sam, Sam, James and Archie making it into the Top 20.  Well done everyone! And thank you to those families who stayed and cheered on from the sidelines.

I'm looking forward to more stunning performances on 5th December."
