'We've got K'NEX-ions in High Places'

Knex final thumbThis week, 2 of our pupils represented the school proudly at the multi-school K'NEX finals held at GE Aviation in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham.

Having made it through the school's heat (battling off other Year 5's at Blue Coat) our 2 finalists were tasked with the challenge of making a functioning piece of gym equipment that would inspire children to live healthier lifestyles. Each team had only an hour to decide and make, from K'Nex construction, their idea with the criterion of it also featuring a moving mechanism.

As you can see from the bottom picture, our Year 5 duo did a fantastic job in such a short period of time. They didn't manage to secure a top 3 place but both valued the experience of competing at this level, working under pressure, collaborating as a team and being able to express their creativity through construction! Well done both of you.

Our thanks also go to Lizzie W who, unfortunately, was unable to attend the event. She helped secure the initial place in the final alongside her partner earlier in the year.

Thank you to parents for taking the children to the event on the school's behalf. We're also grateful to the K'Nex event organisers for continuing to offer this annual competition to our Year 5's - it remains a firm favourite in the Year 5 Blue Coat calendar.
