Sticks and Kicks ~ Sports Update

519d04c8e1705play-sports-mdThis week has seen a number of teams from across Key Stage 2 proudly representing the school in both a competitive hockey and girls' football tournament.

Quicksticks Hockey Tournament

On Monday, 3 teams represented the school at KLB's Quicksticks Hockey tournament 2014 taking part in an inter-school competition of Wotton and District schools. Playing the likes of The British School, Hawkebury Upton etc the children played some cracking hockey over 9 games to reach a best place of 3rd overall. A huge well done to all involved:

Rowen M, Isabelle H, Evie S, Jamie S, Rufus W, Millie M, Eliis B, Ed L, Eliza B,  Nelly P, Susie Y, Charlie R and Dylan A.

A special mention to Mrs Jones for her organisation and support, along with the support of a number of parents.

Len Hutton Millennium Football trophy 2014

On Wednesday afternoon the school sent off 7 girls to attend this highly competitive event held at a new venue: Inside Football, Brimscombe, Stroud. With 21 teams taking part the competition was always going to be stiff. Nonetheless, our girls effortlessly brushed off their group with a clean sheet over 6 games!

It was with this confidence that they managed to reach the semi-finals and finally come unstuck with a (controversial) 0-1 loss to Stroud Valley... who they managed to beat 2-0 in the group stages! [I've been party to rumours of a goal that may not have been altogether 'official'!] Nonetheless, the girls don't need to worry about excuses as they performed brilliantly and have bronze medals to prove it. We look forward to seeing this promising team in action again very soon. They were:

Zoe B, Lizzie W, Orlagh C, Rachel W, Connie W, Jo Y and Daisy T

A big thank you to Mrs Bates and Mrs Y for taking and supporting our team.
