Lots more Forest School fun for Class Kingfisher!

Last week we all tried hard to sit quietly with our eyes closed, so we could listen for sounds around us. We counted how many different sounds we could hear on our fingers. Then we built dens, hunted for bugs and got very muddy hands so we could make handprints on everything!

Today we enjoyed our last session for this term. Luckily the rain held off and we were able to enjoy a campfire with toast and hot chocolate - delicious!

We all had a lovely morning up at Forest School today. The weather was kind to us and we managed to wrap up warm in our hats and gloves.

We enjoyed working with blindfolded partners as we guided them to different trees - a test of trust! Then we happily hunted for minibeasts under logs, built dens, sat in a boat surrounded by killer whales (!), built a 'run' from guttering to send a ball bearing down and finally relaxed with a cup of hot chocolate and a biscuit - perfect!

A big thank you to all the parents who came to our Reception tea party this afternoon. The children really enjoyed showing you all their learning from this year. You should all be very proud of them! They've been a lovely class to teach and they have all grown in so many ways - emotionally, socially, physically and academically. Amazing!

Thank you for all the cakes that you provided for the party, they were also enjoyed by all who came!

A very happy summer to you all and we wish all the children the very best in their new adventures as year ones in September!

World Book Day

Thank you so much for sending your children into school with such brilliant costumes today!

We started our day parading around the hall with the whole school so that we could have a good look at each other's costumes. Later on in the morning our year 6 buddies came with some of their favourite books to read to us which was really fun. Take a look at us in the photos below as we listen carefully to our special stories.

What a busy afternoon we had yesterday! We started with a tasty Christmas dinner and had fun pulling crackers with our friends. It was lovely to see so many of the children having the Christmas dinner and enjoying it!

Back in our classes and we had a very special visit from Father Christmas and his friendly Elves. How lucky we all were to receive presents from him! We even had time to ask him some questions. "Where do you live?" "Where are your reindeer?"  Lots of children told him that they had already seen him in a variety of shops and garden centres!

Happy Christmas to you all!

Love

Last week we spent an enjoyable afternoon with our year 6 buddies making 3 different Christmas craft items. We all took it in turns to go to 3 different classrooms and each time our buddies came with us. We were very excited about visiting the year 6 classroom! How big their chairs were!

Today was our last Forest School for this term. It was a cold session up on the top field but we were all kept warm with a camp fire and toasted our own bread before enjoying it with our usual cup of hot chocolate!

A very big thank you to all the parents who have come along each week to help build dens, search for bugs, taste the homemade stews, walk like a Gruffalo and enjoy the music played with saucepan lids!

Here are just a few photos showing all the fun we've had learning new skills, working as part of a team and solving problems over the last few weeks!

Many thanks for sending your children with warm clothing, hats and gloves today.

We enjoyed exploring the Forest School area, hunting for minibeasts under logs, making potions with mud, working as teams and carrying wood. Ofcourse the best bit was hot chocolate and a biscuit at the end!

Dear Parents,

Please remember that we have our first Forest School session this week, Thursday 13th November. The children must come to school in their forest school clothing - long sleeve top, jumper, long trousers, warm hat and gloves. They should all have wellies to change into in school!

It can get very cold and windy up on our school field so it is essential that the children have adequate clothing!

Many thanks.
