Welcome to the Governors' Section of the Website

At Blue Coat staff, parents and children and governors work as a team, building on success, in a happy, creative environment where everyone feels valued. We are proud of the high standards our pupils achieve across the curriculum.

The day-to-day management of the school is delegated to the Headteacher but governors involve themselves as much as possible in the life of the school and take opportunities to experience first-hand the teaching and learning environment offered to our children.

The role of the governing body is a strategic one; setting the direction and objectives for the school, holding the Headteacher to account and ensuring financial health, value for money and probity. Our main responsibilities include ensuring that legal obligations are met, determining the aims for the school and monitoring and evaluating how effectively the school is working towards achieving them. We provide support to the Headteacher and ensure the Headteacher is operating the school effectively, maintaining and improving the educational performance of both staff and pupils and works to continuously seek school improvement and that the public money provided to finance the school is used prudently.

As governors we volunteer our time and use our experience from various professions and backgrounds to work closely with the school to provide the very best opportunities for learning and development that we can for all children.

We support the school in achieving its vision in ensuring every child at Blue Coat has the opportunity to become “future ready”, enthusiastic and competent learners.

If you would like to know more about how to volunteer and join us in delivering this vision please leave your contact details with the school office and one of our Governors will contact you.
