The Servant King

TOTAL POWER! Over the wind and the waves, over sickness, and even over death. And so up stepped Lucy, Alec and Esther to play the role of Jesus. Little did they know that this afternoon we were looking at the first part of the Easter story...

'Jesus and his friends were having the Passover meal together in an upstairs room. But Jesus' friends were arguing. What about? They were arguing about stinky feet. Stinky feet? Yes, that's right. Stinky feet. Someone had to wash the dirt away, but it was a dreadful job for the lowliest servant. Who on earth would ever dream of volunteering to do it?'

Although they weren't thrilled about the idea; armed with a bar of soap in one hand and a tea-towel in the other, they took up a bowl of warm water and washed other children's feet!

3 Table Points for anyone who can explain something we learn about the character of Jesus from the story of the Last Supper.

Next Monday, as a gift to give away this Easter, we're going to have a go at making our own soap. It would be great if you could bring in any of the following items:

  • Microwave proof measuring jug (1 between 3)
  • Metal whisk (1 between 3)
  • Silicone cake cases

Jesus was kind and caring. He washed the disciples feet however that was the job of a little-paid sevant. That showed he cared about his friends and he didn`t say ewww when he took over the servant`s job.

In the last supper he knew he was going to die so he sacrificed himself to save his people. And he said the bread represents my body and the wine represents my blood. Over all Jesus is wise and generous.
