Morfa Bay - The Important bits

Dear Parents,

Please see below for all the ‘important bits’ you and your child will need in preparation for the Year 6 trip to Morfa Bay. I hope you find this useful and as always if you’ve any problems, questions or concerns then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Essential Information

• We will all meet on the Chipping car park at 8:15 am on the 18th of June (8:30 departure) and we will aim to return by 2 pm on Friday 22nd June.
• Please hand medicines into the office the week before we leave. Medicines need to be clearly labelled with name and administration instructions.
• Children to be responsible for their own inhalers but must also bring a spare inhaler.
• Children may bring books/magazines for reading but no electronic games.
• A small pencil case and note pad will be required – children will need to make notes for their diaries.
£15 spending money is the MAX and is more than adequate. It must also be in change and handed into the office the week before – a named wallet is a must.
• Spending money is the responsibility of the children when we are at Morfa Bay.
• T-Shirts: Money (£10) to be handed into the office in a named envelope the week before. Cash only and exact amount please. Sizes and colours will be sorted out at Morfa Bay.
• Please remember not to send post to Morfa Bay, but instead send your child with a self addressed stamped post card.
• Sensitive information – diets, evening routines etc must be reported to a member of staff ASAP.


SUGGESTED KIT LIST FOR MORFA BAY

The following is a guide of the kind of kit that you will require for an activity week at Morfa Bay, several activities include getting wet or muddy:

• One sleeping bag
• One pillow with pillowcase
• One pair of pyjamas
• One waterproof anorak or kagool
• Two warm sweatshirts/jumpers*
• Three pairs of tracksuit bottoms*
• Two/three pairs of shoes/trainers – one old pair for the assault course
• Shorts and tee shirts*
• Two large towels (remember to name these as well please)
• Underwear/socks – dark colours
• Toilet bag with toiletries – no aerosols
• One camera if required – no expensive cameras – children are solely responsible for these
• Swimming costume – 2 if possible
• Two named bin liners
• One small plastic bottle for carrying a drink, one plastic mug
• Lip salve, sun cream and sun hat/cap – hopefully required!
• Gloves/warm hat – hopefully not required!
• Wellies – (named please) essential for caving
• 1 set of clothes suitable for the last night disco
• No mobile phones
• Please don’t send any sweets/biscuits/cakes etc in suit cases/bags – there will be plenty of food provided by Morfa Bay
• Children will need to bring a small backpack/draw string bag
• Children do not need a packed lunch for the first day but will need a morning snack for the journey – lunch will be provided on arrival

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLOTHES WORN FOR THE ASSAULT COURSE BECOME SO SODDEN WITH MUD THEY ARE ONLY USUALLY THEN FIT FOR THE DUSTBIN.

EVERY YEAR WE ASK THAT ALL ITEMS ARE LABELLED AND EVERY YEAR WE HAVE A HUGE PILE OF LOST PROPERTY. PLEASE ENSURE EVERYTHING IS MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME.
