We Are What We Eat

Our IPC topic this term has been based around food. We have been trying to find answers to questions like: What is food? Why do we need it? What is a healthy diet? We have looked at eating for pleasure or as part of special celebrations like Eid, Hannukah and Christmas and we have talked about how important it is for health, energy and growth.

 

We wrote down all the things we ate in one day and the times when we ate them. We also learned that there are 5 main food groups: carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals, fats and sugars and milk and dairy. We talked about how we need to eat food from all these groups to have a healthy, balanced diet. Then we drew up lists of food that are healthy and those that are not and drew a 'healthy plate'.
