Traditional Tales

We have had a great time looking at traditional tales over the past couple of weeks . We began with 'Hansel and Gretel' and then moved on to 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Within this focus, we have been learning how to write speech within our stories and have also been thinking about using different words for said e.g shouted, whispered, cried. Last week we also began to use adverbs to add extra information about action within a story. The children have had chance to act out the stories. Each performance has been a real treat and truly unique! The children will end this unit by writing their own version of Jack and the Beanstalk, later on in the week.

In maths we have had a big focus on addition and subtraction, crossing multiples of 10 e.g. 29 + 8 or 46 - 8. We will continue focussing on these operations.

The children have had a great time at forest school. This week is our last session. Thank you for making sure they have been prepared for all weather! If you get chance, have a look at the photo I have put on our classroom window. Mackenzie's mum kindly took a wonderful panoramic photo of the children looking for shapes in the clouds!
