Holidays

Hi everyone,

In Maths, we will be focusing on identifying and creating patterns, telling the time, calculating time based word problems and finding working out how to identify missing digits from a variety of different number sentences including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

In Literacy, we will be developing our understanding of fantasy stories. We will be using the knowledge we gained last week to help us create some super story settings and next week we will be looking at character descriptions ready to be out together to write our own fabulous fantasy stories.

Our holiday theme has an Art, History and Geography focus this week as we look at artists representations of holidays, create our own imaginary holiday destinations (which will be linked to setting descriptions in Literacy) and investigate the seven wonders of the natural world.

This Friday, as a result of our super attendance figures within Class Kenya, the children are invited to dress in home clothes for the day. I will send a letter out at the beginning of the week and I will post a separate blog as a reminder.

Finally, this term we will be supporting children with the transition to their new class and year group. If they come home talking about having story times with other teachers, this is all part of the process of familiarisation. Please let me know if your child is expressing concerns to you about moving on. Often, class teachers are the last to find out as the children often want us to feel that they are coping and confident. The mornings of Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th July will be transition mornings where your child spends time with their new teacher and class. More news on this will follow nearer the time.
