Bonfire celebrations

What a busy week! On Monday we had our Key Stage 1 launch day, which provided a day of fun activities linked with the celebration of Bonfire Night. The children looked at why and how we celebrate Bonfire Night. Amongst other things involving eating and dancing!

Our English learning for this week (which is continuing into next week) looked at non-fiction writing. The children collected facts about sharks to use in their writing next week. We also looked at the features of a non-fiction book!

In maths we looked at odd and even numbers and number patterns. The children looked at how the number patterns jumped forwards and back and continued them.

Our Celebrations unit will take us up to the end of this term and we will be focussing in particular on the following celebrations - Bonfire Night, weddings, Hanukah, and Christmas. A home learning grid was sent out today which supports the learning going on in class this term.

Finally, as the weather is so changeable at the moment please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing to school - unless it's raining heavily we try and get the children outside for playtime whenever we can!

Many thanks.
