Wonderful weddings!

What a wet week...and it looks like we've got more of the same on its way. Never mind, Class Egypt is looking very celebratory at the moment with a curious mix of Bonfire Night, Diwali and birthdays. This week we'll be adding weddings into the mix! We're going to take the opportunity to learn about how marriages are celebrated in different societies, focussing on our host country, Hindu marriages and weddings from our own society. We'll be encouraging the children to share their expereinces of weddings too.

In literacy this week, we continue to learn about story writing by looking at stories with familiar settings. The focus of setting, characters and sequence of events will help us construct our stories and we will also be trying our best to remember to use exciting words (Wow! words), begin our sentences in different ways and of course...use capital letters and full stops.

In maths, it's all about place value this week. We'll be ordering numbers (to 20/50/100 and beyond!), looking for patterns in number sequences (such as odd and even numbers) and comparing numbers (which is the biggest, smallest, inbetween  out of 10, 7 and 14 etc.)

Play rehearsals are going well. Do let us know if you need help with costumes. We have some amazing singers this year, and Hey Ewe! promises to be a real specatacle!
