Murals, music and much more!

All the children in Reception, Year One and Year Two had the opportunity to work with our  artist in residence this week in order to contribute to our Diamond Jubilee Mural. The children were really engrossed in their work and by Wednesday it was already taking shape. We hope to display their masterpiece in the school hall so you can admire the children's creativity and I think you will agree it's stunning!

We have also been busy in our class writing imaginative story openings to The Three Bears. We are so impressed with all of your writing children, we particularly love the confidence and enthusiasm you all demonstrate when busy getting your ideas on to paper - well done!

We've had some rather noisy afternoons (but in a good way!) as the children have been exploring instruments and selecting appropriate sounds to depict characters and feelings from the Three bears story. There have been some rather scary sound effects for when 'the bears return' and when  'Goldilocks runs away'. Great composing everyone!

With the sunshine out we have been making the most of our outdoor area and our task this week was to make a shelter for a bear. We used benches and crates for structures and one even had a front door! Some of our bears were obviously very civilized and had a separate dining area and a playroom. Most importantly you thought about warmth for your bear along with shelter, shade and food.

Class photos went well yesterday and the children were especially helpful as I had completely lost my voice! We had lots of sign language and Mrs Crossfield was my fantastic interpreter! I will try not to chat too much this weekend so that my singing voice is back for...'God save the Queen!' Yes it's going to be a fun packed week of Diamond Jubilee activities. I've hung out the bunting in the class children but you can help Mrs Davies decorate our room even more with paper chains, balloons and flags so that it looks fantastic. We will be conducting a Coronation Ceremony on Wednesday so get busy making your crowns with Mrs Davies on Monday as we will need to look smart! The week will end with a dressing up day on Friday so come dressed up as something or someone from the 2000's if you can!

Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine and I look forward to a royal week to remember!
