Ciao! Come Stai?

Wow! What an exciting week. Our week began with the introduction of our phonics programme Letters and Sounds. So far we have learnt, s, a, t, p...so now we can begin to blend sounds to make real words like 'as' and at'. Over the next few weeks we'll be learning more sounds and our first reading books will be going home before half term. We'll all be reading by Christmas!

The story of The Little Red Hen has proved to be a winner. We have enjoyed doing lots of related activities this week as well as telling the story as a class. It's been lovely to hear that you've been telling the story to your families. Your paintings of the Little Red Hen are super.

Just like the Little Red Hen we have been making bread this week...but unlike the Red Hen, we have helped one another! Six children had great fun weighing, mixing, kneading and cooking the bread...and of course eating it at the end! We will all have a turn over the next few weeks so don't worry if you haven't baked yet! You can see Sophie and Henry below...maybe watch out for them in the next series of The Great British Bake Off!!

Thank you for being wonderful 'print detectives'. All the writing is making a fabulous display, and we have become more aware of print. If you haven't brought in anything yet, there is still time. On Tuesday 18th October we will be walking around the local area on a 'Word Hunt'...more information next week.

Today we finally met our year 6 buddies. We had a great time playing with them this afternoon. The year 6 children loved meeting their buddy and revisiting their old classrooms. Take a look at the lovely photo of Sky and Eleanor making glasses!

Finally, news about Topo the Italian mouse and Arana the Spanish spider! They met yesterday and told each other all about their homes and their families. Topo lives in Cremona near Milan. He lives in a house with Mamma, Papa, Galileo their son and Luna their daughter. They do not know that Topo lives in a hole in the cellar...only the scary cat, Ferino knows and loves to chase him. Topo is not a fan of cats! We have been learning how to say 'hello' in Italian..."Ciao everyone!"
