Don't Forget...

...teachers will be undertaking more INSET on Monday 30th October so the first day of Term 2 for pupils will be Tuesday 31st Oct

Friday at 8:26am

green cushionHello Class Mexico. Here's a chance to get off your comfy cushion and tell everyone all about the journey from the Comfy Cushion, down the Deck of Doom, until you reach Clueless Cave.

Your task is to pick one of the zones:

  • The Comfy Cushion
  • The Learning Lounge
  • The Worried Wilderness
  • The Sea of Sorrow
  • The Clueless Cave

Then write a brief description of the zone you have chosen. You might tell us what colour represents your zone; think of a picture that we could use on our class poster as a visual prompt for the zone; explain how you are feeling about learning when you are in that zone; and what might you do if someone else on your table had a different card to you.

Be imaginative - don't sit on your Comfy Cushion!

I have chosen "the learning lounge". If you're in the learning lounge you feel you can do it but it is a tiny bit hard. The colour for the learning lounge is yellow :D

When you're in the clueless cave you don't have a clue what you're doing. The colour for the clueless cave is black because if you're in a cave you wouldn't be able to see. It means that you wouldn't be able to learn because you wouldn't have a clue what you're doing. You need a grown up to help you. :sigh:

I have chosen the clueless cave and the colour is black. This is because everything feels cold, dark and scarey as the colour is pitch black. I feel sad and lonely as I don't have a clue what I'm doing.

I have chosen The Learning Lounge. The learning lounge is good for learning more about subjects. I feel happy and excited when learning new things. I would choose yellow because it is a happy and sunny colour. On our poster I would like pictures of ways of learning using number squares, your teacher, computers, books, pencils and paper.

I have chosen the Worried Wilderness which is the colour red. On the poster it is a dark place which would look like a dark forest.

I chose the clueless cave because it is quiet and dark and it is to do with our topic explorers.
Everything is black and you don't know where you are. You feel worried and clueless.

In our pack of cards the clueless cave is black. If we do not know what we are doing we put down our black card so eather a teacher or someone who has a green card can help use.If I was in the clueless cave I would be worried that I would not finish my work in time.It does not feel very nice being in the clueless cave.

I have chosen the learning lounge because it's a good place to be! when you're in the learning lounge you feel challenged to learn something new. I think that we should put on the poster pictures of things that help us learn something new like Mr Clements, Mrs Gillespie, Mr Brooks, the computer, dictionaries, parents, friends, books and all the people around us! The learning lounge is sunshine yellow because it's a happy place and makes learning fun!

I've picked the clueless cave because it makes me think of the colour black. When I'm in the cave it seems that i don't know where I am and i cannot see a thing because it is so dark in there .

Great post, Maddy.

I must say, Class Mexico, all of this focus on actual LEARNING and the feelings that go with it is very impressive indeed.

One question: is it always a disaster to be in the clueless cave?
Comment 19 Comment by Class Mexico on 25 Sep 12 at 2:02pm | Quote this comment
No because there is always someone who can help you. When you come out of the cave you know that you have learned something new or improved your learning. It also means we can use the resouces around us - we are being resourceful and it teaches us to be resilient and responsible.

I've picked learning lounge because you can learn new things and then you can improve next time you do the task. :-)

The sea of sorrow is blue.It means that you are feeling sad because you are unsure about what to do. A sad face with a question mark inside it would be good picture to have.If my friends have a yellow or a green card I can ask them for help. :sigh:

Wow... as a class you really have been LEARNING about LEARNING.

You're right: we have to be in the clueless cave at some point to be able to learn something new. Remember, the most important thing is to reflect and look back at what you did to move you out of the clueless cave. Those things that you did could help you to become unstuck and learn something new in future!

The Clueless Cave is when you are in a cave, it is dark and you are scared. If you take 1 step you will bang your nose then you need help!
