Don't Forget...

I’m going to let you in on a secret. Remember, don’t tell anyone else. I work for M.I.5. There, I’ve said it. My fake identity is Ben Dover and age 10.Undercover, I’m spying on a mysterious organisation called B.A.C, short for… well I’m not sure yet, but I’ll find out. As you probably already know, they’re a famous terrorist group that’s work is unknown to anyone, bar themselves.

At school, everyone thinks I’ve gone insane, as I’m obsessed with sneaking around – obviously I’m practicing for the real thing, although should they be able to see me? For this reason, I didn’t have a single friend. I didn’t care. Not a bit. One of the best things about my job is I get cool gadgets like exploding pens; however, all they do is spill ink everywhere instead of making a colossal explosion! For some reason anything that I get doesn’t work. I wonder why? The other day, when someone was eyeballing me suspiciously, I brandished my last detonating pen, shook it vigorously and chucked it towards their desk. You know the rest.

My walk to school is very stressful: I have to be very discreet and change my route every week. Unfortunately I sometimes (well, most of the time) get lost and are given detention for being late. If only they could know.

Today as I trudged determinedly through the torrential rain, which dripped forlornly down my soaked face, I felt irritated: I hadn’t made a single breakthrough since I had started. I was a failure. A backstabbing thought entered my mind - maybe I wasn’t. Maybe the alliance didn’t exist. A half-hearted smile spread across my face despite the horrendous weather; maybe all I had worked for the last couple of months wasn’t true. Maybe it was all lies…

Hayden, terrific piece of writing. This is a really different mood from your work with Leo, lighthearted writing is often more difficult to do well.

Intriguing! I agree: it's nice to see you spin off in another direction whilst still delivering the edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting epics with Leo et al.

Great start... will there be more?
