Oliver W has written an excellent persuasive argument in response to our question "Is Donkey a Good Friend?"

Shrek may think that Donkey is a little dumb and find him quite annoying. However, he doesn't know who donkey really is. Donkey is fun, helpful (most of the time) and a good laugh; all qualities that every best friend usually has. Here are some of my many reasons why Donkey really is a good pal.

The amusing, four-legged friend is ALWAYS trying to make sure that everybody is happy. Whenever Shrek may be 'down in the dumps' Donkey will try to lift his spirits. For example: he may tell a joke or do a little dance to make him feel happier. Also the dull grey, wirey haired donkey, sings all the way on the long ride to Far Far Away, to try and calm Shrek down when he is worried that Fiona's parents aren't going to like him.

Despite occasionally being slightly annoying Donkey is a VERY loyal and supportive friend. He helps Shrek whenever he needs him ( which is quite often!) such as when Shrek was searching for Fiona's Dad; Donkey was looking for clues along the way. He confirmed that they were on the right path by saying: " that's the tree that's shaped like a human" and many other landmarks. Furthermore, Donkey is kind and understanding. Shrek got annoyed and shouted " but we've passed that tree five times", however, when later he apologized, Donkey forgave him straight away. That's what a true friend would do!

These are my reasons explaining how Donkey is a really good mate. I think Donkey is the BEST pal in the world and Shrek should start to care for him after everything he has done to help. What is he? Pal or pest? It's up to you. What do you think?

Oliver, I love the range of punctuation in your argument, your connectives and that you were really thinking about your success criteria.
Next time, can you link your introduction with your conclusion? Try writing a question at the end of your opening paragraph, that you can answer in your summary.
Overall... AWESOME

Superb, Oliver! You've really used evidence very well to support your views. Some really effective use of punctuation and vocabulary. I agree with Mr Jones: linking your opening and closing paragraphs would be a brilliant 'tweak' to a very well written persuasive piece.

Keep it up, Oliver!
