We only have 3 days left of persuasive writing before we move on to our next genre. So, we need to get writing! This morning we're going to practice using our visual organiser to plan and our SC to craft a high quality piece! Working in pairs, choose one of the following issues (you might agree or disagree with the title) and write a persuasive article (at least 300 words) to be published in the school newspaper:

Footballers should be paid more!
Video games should be banned!
Keeping animals in cages should be made illegal!

Over paid

Some football players like Lionel messi are paid way to much money messi is on 44 million Euros a year. Christiano Ronaldo is being paid 39 million Euros a year. What would you do with all that money?

We also think that farmers, fire-fighters, police men, doctors and nurses should get paid more money than footballers because doctors and fire-fighters are life savers. All professional footballers do is run around on the pitch having fun and other people are saving lives also football players use dirty language on the pitch and behave appalling off the pitch.

Footballers don’t even give much of there wasted money to charity’s like children In need and sports relief. They waste it on stuff like cars and hair gel.

Millions and millions of pounds go into making one single football stadium and all people do there is play football.

Animal cruelty is WRONG!

As human kind has progressed, there has been an increase of rules and regulations in everyday life. These rules rise from general disgust over happenings and concepts all over the world. One such rapidly growing is animal cruelty.

Over the last 10 years an organisation called S.N.A.C. (say NO to animal cruelty) have been saving abandoned animals that need to be cared for and that people have not looked after.

Did you know? A dog can die within an hour of being trapped in a car.

Keep the Animals

Many people strongly believe that keeping animals such as pets is extremely cruel. However only a handful of people keep animals in cruel conditions. We, Harry and Simon believe strongly that there is no reason at all to want to stop keeping animals. Here are our reasons why:

Firstly, most animals are kept in cages for there own well being. Thousands of endangered species are being bred to help the numbers bounce back up to a healthy number. Many animals have become seriously ill in the wild and need close medical attention in a specially adapted enclosure. Special centres can bring up neglected or orphaned babies until they are of an age and strength to cope for them selves in the wild.

We can learn about what we need to adapt the environment so animals can live a peaceful and normal life around humans. Also if we, as humans know where certain animals occur we can help them feed the young ones by leaving out food or drink or create homes for them such as bird boxes and compost heaps.

Pets help children learn important life qualities such as being responsible through caring for their beloved pet. Also animals being in a zoo creates a brilliant experience for young children while also giving a great opportunity for a brilliant day out.

Animal sanctuaries and zoos give a great opportunity for hard but rewarding job. People who love animals can wake up on a Monday morning and say “Yes, I am looking forward to my day at work!”

Should video games be banned?

We think that video games should not be banned and we have 3 reasons why and these are them.

Firstly, the amazing Nintendo wii gets you fit! For example, wii fit and wii fit+ makes you run really fast which means your mum and dad don’t have to force you to go outside. Also, some games get you to sing which is good for your voice box.

Secondly, people have jobs because of video games. For example there are designers, engineers and people who test the games once they have been fully made. If video games were banned people may not be able to find another job and might end up on the streets.

Our final reason is that video games provide entertainment for children from 5 – 18 years old.

Footballers for less!

Footballers are getting paid ridiculous amounts of money. We think that it outrages how much they get paid every week (Wayne Rooney gets paid about £12,000,000 a year!). Here are the reasons why we think they should get paid less:

Fire fighters get paid less than £45,000 a year; footballers get paid 4 TIMES that in a week alone, which is a stupidly large amount of money! This is a very unfair amount of money seeing as they just kick a ball around which kids do for fun and free.

Also they aren’t lifesavers like a nurse or a fearless policeman who has saved our lives for years without getting nearly as much praise as footballers so you should lower the wages of footballers.

Parents work just as hard but they don’t get paid as much as footballers who just spend their outrages amount of money on fancy new sports cars without paying any attention to people living in poverty who are sick and dying every day in places like Africa and the war-stricken Afghanistan.

So footballers are getting paid stupidly large amounts of money for example they are getting paid four times the amount of firemen
And they aren’t life savers plus they don’t pay any attention to the world around them while buying all of the new sports cars .so they should not be getting as much money as they are at the moment.

Footballers? Money?

We, Esther and Lauren, disagree strongly against footballers getting paid millions of pounds and getting away with not paying bills.

We think that lazy footballers get paid outstanding amounts of money considering the fact that some of them may play quite uselessly in matches. For example

Also, they may argue with the referee’s decision and get fined for bad behaviour, but, with the amount of money coming in the fine is not important. For example David Beckham swore twice at the reff and got finned £10,000 but for him that is less than 10 minutes work. Therefore if they were paid less they would not be able to afford the bill
So would respect the final dicision for they would not want to pay such a large expence.

Did you know that farmers don’t get paid halve as much as footballers? No farmers hardly get paid anything and this is outrageous for the amount of hard work they do. They: plant most of our vegetables that turn up in our local Tesco’s, they grow and breed animals for meat and milk and finally they must be the most generous people on Earth. Footballers provide entertainment but do you really think that is worth 1.1million per year?

In conclusion we think that foot balers get paid outstanding amounts of money we hope you agree.

Animals in Danger

How would you feel if you were behind glass all your life? We think animals should be left in the wild in no harm or danger.

Firstly, animals should be in the wild in their natural habitat so they can hunt for their own food. For example big cats such as the lightning fast leopard and the outstanding tiger would love to choose their own fresh meat.

Secondly animals caged up in zoos don’t have hardly enough space in their really small area. Animals are normally split up from their massive family because there is not enough room left.

YES! TO VIDEO GAMES

Video games are good because they are fun, educational and can help to keep you fit.

Video games are really fun because you can play with your friends and family. Also there is a variety of different games that you can play.

Video games are also very educational and provide a fun learning environment for children. Video games can help children express their feelings and emotions.

Video games can also keep you fit because you can go on wii fits and go on games that keep you fit like jogging, jumping and sprinting.

Kicking for millions and slaving for nothing

We think that footballer’s salaries are ridiculously high as it is, and earning more is out of the question. People in poverty work like slaves just to keep themselves alive, but what do they get for it? Just that little bit of food and water to keep them going. Meanwhile footballers are earning millions and living in luxury just for doing a hobby. Even the average person only earns around £25,000 pounds a year while footballers earn nearer £675,000 a year!

With all the money they earn they become ruthless and careless and will even ‘dodge’ the law. If they get fined they don’t care, they just pay it like it’s nothing, then they’ll almost happily do it again.

Life savers, such as fire fighters, risk their own lives to save others, and most of them don’t even earn HALF as much as footballers. If anything, the life savers should earn as much as the footballers and the footballers should earn the life savers current salary.

Footballers laze in their mansions doing something they love and call it work, when our parents have to rack their brains every day just so we can have a roof over our heads and a hot meal every night.

This is why we think that footballers should earn less not more.

Ban animals locked in cages! By Mollie and Tarragon

We think that and also 75% of people think that keeping animals in cages is cruel, it’s like a prison and they will get neglected. Imagine if this was you would you like?

Help us to stop animal cruelty!

To keep animals in cages it is cruel and unnatural. It is wrong you MUST let them have freedom! We wouldn’t like being locked in a cage for all our lives, that’s like limiting the freedom that your pet has. You have taken on a response ability of looking after a pet. BE RESPONCIBLE! All animals should have freedom just like us none of them should be in animal prison.

This quote a is from the queen, "All animals should have freedom to run about in their own comfort zone." Over 85% of animals suffocate every year. I hope you have seen our point why animals shouldn’t be locked in cages.

Footballers should be paid less

We think that it’s crazy that footballers get paid so much. Therefore in the next few paragraphs we will explain why we think this.

Football clubs choose to pay players a certain amount based on conditions. a Player could for a certain amount of years and can be paid for the different games they take part in. So where do the clubs get the money to pay so their players get so much when they could be wasting there time.

Isn’t it a waste that they get paid loads and loads and they could be lounging around but they get paid so much therefore that money would be wasted. So how much do they get paid on average? Well a premiership player earns 676,000 that’s a lot.

In conclusion do football players get paid too much?

No more money for footballers! By Lauren and Iris

How much money do adults in your family get pad for there job? Well Wane Rooney get paid PER WEEK £250,000. It’s just so ridiculous! Also the money could save lots of lives. Here are 3 reasons why.

Boys and girls play football for fun and the pried of wining if they do. So why do footballers get paid millions even if they play a poor match? With all this money, footballers don’t care about anything if they get fired they have millions, if they get a fine they can pay it and they will do it again.

Doctors, nurses, policemen & fire-fighters all save lives but they don’t get paid as much as footballers - its just stupid!

Hobby robbery crisis

It’s outrageous how much footballers get paid in a week. Did you know that footballers get over one hundred thousand pounds a week! That is more than people get with normal jobs get in a whole year! Do you think that they should be paid less?

There is another reason why footballers should be paid less. And that is they go crazy with the money they get and don’t appreciate it when there are people all over the world who live in poverty and die every day.

Also it is just an over paid hobby that everyone thinks is so important. But it isn’t! There is a lot more important things in the world such as fire men, police men even the S.A.S, RAF and the RN are putting there lives in danger for our safety. But all footballers do run around a pitch kicking a ball and over reacting when they mess up. Also I don’t see how there saving lives! It’s not fair on our heroes, because they get paid less for saving lives and if this hasn’t persuaded already I don’t know what will. Those of you that have been persuaded thank you for realising what a mess up footballers are.

Keeping animals in cages should be made illegal!

I think that keeping animals in cages should be made illegal because all animals should be free to rome around in not locked up in cages!

For example Lions are shut up in cages the size of 2 classrooms. When in the wild they have the whole savannah to rome around in. In zoos lions get board and start phasing up and down up and down until that gets boring and the lion starts to plays with a ball!

Why that much?

Football players get paid way too much! We think this for the following reasons:

Firstly, football players should be paid less because the money they get spoils them.

Secondly when they have fun playing football getting paid for it and the highest paid player is paid £24.1Million pounds a year for kicking a ball around and could become a billionaire in only 4 years!

Thirdly our parents work for hours on end and they get paid way to little even when there jobs can save lives they become life savers and not time wasters like football players.

Fourthly they could buy cars every day and are parents struggle two afford a second-hand one every four years and so almost diminishing their wealth.

Fifthly they can buy a house a year when our parents work twice as hard and have debts lasting a lifetime and become nobodies whereas footballers are famous for kicking a ball.
