The 2012 London Games is rapidly approaching, and for this terms IPC we're going to be learning all about the Olympics (both past and present). To get us started the Year 5 children in class India are writing various quiz questions all about the Olympics for you to have a go at answering - some of them will be multiple choice, others won't - here's a few to whet your appetite and get you googling! I will award 3 Table Points for each new person to correctly answer one of my questions.

1. The games were part of a religious festival in honour of which Greek God?
2. What is 'pankration'?
3. Instead of a medal, what did ancient athletes receive as a prize?
4. In 1948, where did Sir Ludwig Guttmann organised a sports competition for WWII veterens?
5. Where did the first Paralympic games take place?
6. What do the five Olympic rings represent?
7. In 1984, the Olympic motto became what?
