Don't Forget...

....school term ends on Friday 15th December at 2.30pm

Tuesday at 3:42pm

Last week, along with friends from Classes Kingsley and Livingstone, Class Hannu enjoyed a wonderful learning trip to Westonbirt Arboretum.

The children had plenty of time to explore the arboretum, building dens, collecting natural materials, climbing trees and discovering all the textures, colours, sounds and smells of the forest.

After lunch, we had a learning session led by Caroline from Westonbirt's education team. The children and grown ups learnt rhymes and actions to help us remember all the different parts of a tree and their important roles. The children role-played as woodland creatures and discovered the different things we use wood for, including making musical instruments, building houses and even making toilet paper! Finally, we searched for natural ingredients and tested a recipe for making our own soil.

We had a fantastic day of active learning in the great outdoors. The children all behaved brilliantly. Many thanks to Mrs Yeoman and Miss Craig for helping with the visit.

Have a look at what we got up to in these two slide shows.

Hi everyone,

You should have all received a note detailing your child's cooking day and reminding them of the toppings that they chose. Please let me know if you have any questions or queries.

Following some feedback from our wonderful helpers, it would be really helpful if, wherever possible, you could chop ingredients with your child before bringing them into school. We have a lot of children to get through and this helps to make sure the session runs smoothly! The children will be evaluating their pizzas  and look forward to sharing them with you!

Thank you so much for your support with this. I know the children are really excited!

Hi everyone,

I hope you have had a lovely long weekend!

We had a great time last week! Lauren from Zoolab visited us on Tuesday. She showed us some really interesting animals including a snake, a giant snail and a tarantula! The children had the opportunity to stroke or hold the animals, if they so wished. I will print some of the photos and display them on our classroom window this week.

On Friday we also made our way down to KLB to take part in some sport events. The KLB pupils had set up some wonderful activities for the children and we all had a great time. Many thanks to the parents who helped to make the walk there and back possible.

Our maths this week sees a focus on measure (in particular capacity) and describing the properties of 3d shapes.

In English we will be learning how to extend our sentences, and how to change the order of phrases to make our sentences sound more interesting!

Show and tell - our second round of show and tell presentations are well under way. The children have been so confident and I have been so impressed with the independence they have shown. Please come and see me if you need a reminder of your child's date.

A few reminders:

P.E tomorrow - please make sure the children have something warm to wear in their P.E bags, and that they have their trainers!

Forest school on Thursday - this is our last session.

Class Hannu,

Well done for today. You were all fantastic! You spoke so loudly and clearly, your singing was beautiful and the dances were amazing!

Mrs. Dove, Mrs. Hunt and I are so proud of you! You all deserve a good rest this weekend.

And parents - thank you so much for your support. We really couldn't have done it without you.

See you all on Monday,

Miss Fisher

Tomorrow is class photo day, so hair brushed and ties straight please!!

Also, please come in and claim the final buggy if it's yours (left over from our D.T project) Many thanks.
